New Busy Bee Travel Center to Open in Bonifay in 2026
BONIFAY, Fla. – Holmes County is set to welcome a major economic development with the announcement that Busy Bee, a family-owned convenience store chain, will open a new travel center in Bonifay by the end of 2026. The 55,000-square-foot facility will be located at the southwest corner of Highway 79 and Interstate 10, a strategic location chosen for its high traffic counts from travelers and truckers.
The project is expected to create approximately 100 jobs and generate significant economic activity for the region. Financial projections estimate annual sales of $23.8 million, with $1.8 million in local and state sales tax revenues and $200,000 in annual property tax revenues for Holmes County.
Beyond the travel center, the development will utilize over 60 acres for additional commercial properties, including hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments. This expansion aims to enhance the local economy and provide more amenities for residents and visitors alike.
As part of its commitment to the community, Busy Bee has donated a portion of the property for the construction of a new Bonifay Fire & Rescue station. This addition will enhance emergency response capabilities and improve public safety in the region.
Bonifay Mayor Larry F. Cook expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome the Waring family to the City of Bonifay, along with the businesses, visitors, and new residents the development will bring. This landmark project and investment will significantly impact our community, creating opportunities and lasting benefits that will influence Bonifay for generations.”
