Point Blank Enterprises Chooses Wakulla County for New Manufacturing Facility
CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. – Wakulla County is celebrating a major win for its economy with the announcement that Point Blank Enterprises, the nation’s largest body armor manufacturer, will open a new 100,000-square-foot facility at Opportunity Park by the end of 2025.
The project is expected to bring 300 direct jobs and 213 support jobs, adding an estimated $36 million in annual payroll to the local economy. Average pay and benefits will reach $60,000, boosting household incomes and generating $3.5 million in local tax collections.
A Statewide Partnership for Local Growth
Governor Ron DeSantis shared the news during a press conference at the Wakulla Environmental Institute, commending local leaders for their innovative approach to job creation. The state contributed more than $8 million in grants to support site development, infrastructure, and workforce training.
“This can be done, and it can be done in ways that are sustainable and then really reinforce what makes Florida unique,” Governor DeSantis said, highlighting how rural communities can thrive through targeted investment.
A Decade in the Making
For years, Wakulla County officials have worked to diversify the local economy and retain young talent. Commissioner Ralph Thomas noted the effort began five years ago with investments in Opportunity Park’s infrastructure to attract high-quality employers.
“This is a major victory,” Thomas said. “We beat out larger counties with more resources, and Point Blank will be a huge economic driver for Wakulla County.”
Training Tomorrow’s Workforce
The Wakulla Economic Development Council, in collaboration with state universities and Wakulla Schools, has launched specialized programs to train students in engineering and manufacturing skills. These programs played a crucial role in securing Point Blank’s investment and ensuring a skilled workforce is ready to meet industry demands.
